How to install ExTiX 8 KDE to hard disk using Live Installer
This is how to do it:
1. Start up ExTiX from your DVD
2. Go to KDE menu >> Favorites >> Live Installer
3. When Live Installer starts you will see this
4. Make your choice and click Forward. You will then see this
5. Choose where to install ExTiX and click Forward. You will see this
6. Fill it in as shown above. You can create another user than "user", but the Desktop will look different then.
Click Forward and you will see this
7. Choose to install GRUB (Grub2) in MBR (/dev/sda) and click Forward. You will see this
8. Check that everything is ok
before you click Forward. You will see this as the installation starts
9. The installation is ready in about 10 min. When ready you will see this
10. On some computers you will get this ("normal") message when the installation is ready
11. When the task "Configuring bootloader" has been running for a couple of minutes the whole installation
is ready and successful even though you won´t get a message saying just that - see the picture above.
On some computers you will have to terminate the installation by "force". This is how it looks then
12. After clicking "Terminate Application main.py"
(or after the message "Installation is now complete")
you can reboot your computer. See below how it looks when ExTiX's GRUB 2 menu shows up
To be able to take the above shown pictures I made a "virtual" installation of ExTiX using VirtualBox. If you,
however, install ExTiX on a computer where you already have other Linux systems or/and a Windows system
installed GRUB2 will detect those systems and make it possible to start everyone of them (instead of ExTiX).
Good luck!
